M. Family Milwaukee Extended Family Session // Doctors Park // Fox Point, Wisconsin
Oh, the pure joy of photographing an extended family! I love watching the dynamics of cousins playing together, of grandparents laughing with their grandkids and siblings recreating funny old family photos. The M. Family was amazing to work with! Our beach session was Doctors Park in Fox Point was light, bright and laid back. The kids frolicked on the beach and in between the giggles and rock throwing contests, we took some beautiful family photos. Thank you to the M. Family for letting me capture this special time in your lives!
Alexandra + Ashton University Club of Milwaukee Wedding // Milwaukee, Wisconsin
I had the recent honor of capturing Alex and Ashton’s once-in-a-lifetime wedding, which truly looked as though it belonged on the pages of the latest, chicest bridal magazine. Their celebration was absolutely stunning and filled with a range of emotions, from tears of happiness to laughter.
Alex and Ashton tied the knot at The University Club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a historic club with a great deal of character and charm – soaring cathedral ceilings, warm fireplaces, and gorgeous views of Lake Michigan.
I could hardly contain my excitement when Alex entered the venue in her Marilyn Monroe-inspired wedding gown, which totally matched her loving, fun, and spontaneous personality to a tee! Such a fabulous gown choice for a fabulous bride. When the blushing bride walked down the aisle, I immediately saw the excitement in Ashton’s eyes. He instantaneously lit up when Alex graced his eyeline, and Alex held back tears as she was led down the aisle by her father. The sweet couple exchanged vows, straight from their hearts, causing their family and friends to tear up, especially when they spoke about the loving family they have created together. As if their ceremony was not already full of love, the couple exchanged rings with each other and with Ashton’s darling daughter – truly a special moment that will remain in their memories forever.
Following the couple’s touching nuptials was a ceremony that was too beautiful for words! The pastel shades of pink, warm gold hues, intricate candelabras, subtle candlelight, and white and green florals provided a magical and warm atmosphere which perfectly coordinated with the sophisticated venue and the couple’s unique vibe. The ceremony took on a life of its own when the couple seamlessly combined two of their heritages and traditions – taking a Scottish shot together followed by the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass at the end of their ceremony. According to Jewish wedding traditions, you can forgo almost every other element, but if you do not break glass, folks will not believe you are really married!
Throughout the entire evening, every last guest felt the love between Alex and Ashton, and their loved ones surely walked away knowing they are deeply embedded in a piece of the couple’s new beginning.
Alex and Ashton, I feel truly honored to have been part of your stunning wedding. Thank you, so very much, for the chance to capture your special day! Cheers to an eternity of joy and laughter as husband and wife, and I hope you have a fantastic time on your honeymoon in Greece!
Rachel + Eric The Blackstone Chicago Wedding // Chicago, Illinois
From start to finish, there was an effortless standard of perfection, sophistication, and sheer beauty surrounding Rachel and Eric’s big day. Rachel has incredible taste, and her eye for detail was perfectly reflected and executed from the moment they saw each other for the first time to the fabulous grandeur of their gorgeous venue.
Rachel and Eric got married at the iconic Blackstone Hotel in Chicago, Illinois, boasting views of Lake Michigan and Grant Park. When I stepped foot into this stunning hotel, I immediately realized why a bride-to-be would fall in love with such a place! The Blackstone features amazing architecture from the 1910’s, including a spectacular, pristine white ballroom, a true photogram’s dream!
The lovely couple did their first look at the Irish Room inside of The Blackstone. From the moment Rachel and Eric locked eyes, you could feel their love. Excitement radiated through the room!
As the ceremony was underway, a rather special moment happened – the ring bearer and flower girls took tumbles, one after the other, as they walked down the aisle. Everyone giggled, and a relaxed atmosphere unfolded as Rachel walked down the aisle in her elegant, detailed dress with her proud father lovingly accompanying her. Prior to celebrating this lovely couple’s nuptials, I took bridal party photos at the Formal Gardens of Grant Park. The bridal party was adorned in feminine, beautiful shades of purple while picturesque paths of flowers, trees, and the magnificent Chicago skyline filled the background.
The vintage, magnificent appeal of the hotel perfectly mirrored this couple’s timeless elegance – the beautiful white ballroom was latent with intricate vintage details and stunning, sparkling chandeliers. The Blackstone Hotel is truly a gem within the city of Chicago. Its high-arched openings and ornate ceilings complimented Rachel’s taste quite perfectly.
Rachel and Eric, I can’t thank you enough for the opportunity to capture your amazing celebration! Every last detail, big and small, fell perfectly into place, and you most certainly deserved your evening of sheer bliss. I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness as husband and wife.
Emilia // 16 Days New Lifestyle Newborn Session // Chicago, Illinois
Little Miss Emilia was a darling during her Chicago lifestyle newborn session. She slept the whole entire session, only waking up when we decided to take a photo of her in a vintage suitcase ;) Hey, anything for the shot?! Am I right?! Her older brother, Jake was so proud and loving! He showered Emilia with kisses and made sure his little sister was comfortable while she napped. Thank you to the M. Family for an awesome laid back session!
I’ve been trying something new the last couple of weeks, morning journaling. It’s not a “dear diary” type of journaling rather it’s setting your intentions and affirmations for the day.
Now, especially during the busy season of a photographers life, spending 5 minutes in the morning has become a refreshing way to find balance and clarity for the day ahead. I actually can’t believe how relaxed and ready to take on the day I feel after answering these simple questions (thank you Tim Ferriss for the amazing suggestion!):
“I am grateful for…” “What would make today great…” Daily affirmations : “I am…”
This season in my life has taught me to find more joy and less overwhelm. I’ve been on a personal mission to really simplify my life, find that mysterious thing called balance and graciously enjoy every.single.moment.
Have you found that grounding part of your life? What makes you slow down and enjoy life’s little joys?
Marianne + Taylor Coast - A Zilli Restaurant Wedding // Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Every couple I have the honor of photographing holds a special place in my heart. Marianne and Taylor were certainly no exception. In fact, to be completely transparent, my massive camera was nearly drenched in tears as I captured their beautiful, honest moments from start to finish. Their day was nothing short of enchanting.
The bride and groom, both Marquette Alumni, tied the knot in a jaw-dropping, breathtaking Catholic ceremony at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, the captivating, brick-adorned church. As Marianne walked down the aisle, Taylor’s eyes lit up, and a huge smile quickly followed.
After their heartfelt ceremony, the newlywed couple, and their respective bridal party, headed to Marquette University for photos around the St. Joan of Arc Chapel, the same place Taylor proposed to Marianne! The St. Joan of Arc Chapel sits at the heart of Marquette’s campus, making this spot the perfect place for post-ceremonial photos. The light blue dresses worn by Marianne’s elegant bridesmaids looked absolutely dazzling among the ivy and cream colors of the Chapel.
Following the astonishing photo session at the Chapel, we headed to Coast – an upscale restaurant in a scenic setting on the shores of Lake Michigan – where Marianne and Taylor’s guests lovingly greeted the couple with rounds of cheers and applause.
Marianne and Taylor, I must have teared up at least five times throughout your special celebration. The love you share for one another, plus your delightful families and guests, not only made me feel right at home but brought tears to my eyes. That’s how powerful your love is, and I am honored to have captured your extraordinary day. Have a fantastic time in Hawaii on your honeymoon! Wishing you endless love, happiness, and health as husband and wife!
Alec Milwaukee Trumpeter Portraits // Third Ward // Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Sometimes you meet people who are so creative and amazingly talented that you find yourself asking, "what was I doing when I was their age?!" (Perhaps drinking too much beer, attempting to stay awake in class, and playing tennis. True story for this photographer!)
Well meet Alec, an amazing trumpet player, who tours the country with his band, Sound Underground, all while attending the prestigious Manhattan School of Music for a Master’s of Music. Alec's Milwaukee portrait session was a lot of fun! He was laid back, stylish and a true gentlemen. At moments our sessions seemed like a shoot for GQ Magazine, all due to Alec's impeccable style and outfit choices.
I feel so honored to have gotten to know him and his family better. Wishing you nothing but the best in your music career!
Press // 9 Days New Whitefish Bay Lifestyle Newborn Session // Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin
Welcome to the world sweet little Press! This nine day old cutie was a champ during his Milwaukee lifestyle newborn session. Big siblings, Shea and Mack gleamed with pride as they held their baby brother close. Their session was light, bright, cuddly and fun!
Deborah + James Milwaukee Pritzlaff Wedding // Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Deborah and James, an absolutely lovely couple I will never forget photographing, exuded an indescribable joy throughout their special day. From their “first look” to their nuptials to their celebration, they were filled with a sheer delight that truly showed in their photos.
The bride and groom, and their respective wedding parties, got ready at the stylish boutique hotel, Kimpton, in the Third Ward, Milwaukee.
Their first look was captured at Lake Park, overlooking a lovely lighthouse with stretches of open, meadow-like spaces and winding paths nestled in the background. James looked adorably anxious as he awaited seeing Deb, his wife-to-be, for the first time. When they finally met, the moment was filled sheer happiness and memorable embraces. After their first look, the couple exchanged thoughtful, private letters, followed by their bridal parties joining them for photos after their letter exchange.
Deborah and James got married at Lake Park Lutheran – a lovely church with beautiful stained glass windows, built in 1911 between the beauty of Lake Michigan and the peaceful flow of the Milwaukee River. One of the most touching moments of the ceremony happened when Deb’s father adoringly walked her down the aisle, a moment the lovely bride was unsure would happen due to health issues concerning her sweet father. Nevertheless, she graced the aisle with a huge smile on her face, which made for the most touching, intimate moment that Deb, James, and their guests will never forget.
A great celebration followed the lovely ceremony as the couple headed to the Pritzlaff event space – a historic, newly-renovated warehouse with lots of historic, industrial charm and progressive edge. Deborah and James chose classic décor to adorn the space – hues of navy, blush, ivory, and gold to accentuate the industrial architecture beautifully. The greenery runners on each table added the perfect touch to the already lovely space! Truly stunning!
The dance floor was packed as Milwaukee Airwaves got the party started for the newlywed couple and their guests.
Deborah, James, their families, and bridal party were so down-to-earth, welcoming, and fun to work with that I truly felt like part of their family, from the moment we met to the last song the DJ played, and I could not thank them enough. Deb and James, thank you for allowing me to capture your truly special celebration! I wish you a lifetime of joy, health, and love as husband and wife. Cheers to a wonderful honeymoon in Bermuda! Love + Appreciation, Dom.
