Święconka. Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

One of the many Polish traditions we maintain during Easter is the Święconka. (Its a Easter basket which contains a sampling of Easter food, such as eggs, meats, and bread.) The basket is brought to church on Holy Saturday to receive a blessing.

Here is some more information regarding this tradition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Święconka

Another Easter Polish tradition are Pisanki, colorful eggs which symbolize the revival of nature and the hope that Christians gain from faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. They were originally a pagan tradition but over the years have been absorbed by Christianity and now are the symbol of Easter.

Enjoy! Hope you had a wonderful Easter!
