I grew up in Poland where every meal was garnished. My mom and grandma would serve dishes covered with dill, chives or anything else they could find in our garden. Those garnishes serve as a little reminder of simpler times and my childhood in the old country. So only naturally to continue with the tradition, I decided to start garnishing the meals on my 2 year old's plate…… Yup, I can already hear you laughing! Eva has been as hesitant about my garnished meals as she is about potty training. She usually tilts her head, looks at me as if I just took away her favorite stuffed animal, points to the garnish of choice and says “Whaaaat is tha Momma?” To which I reply excitingly “garnish!”
Eva looks at the piece of greenery on her plate, examines it and replies quizically “Why?!” “No gaa-nish momma.”
All meanwhile my husband is trying to cover his face and not burst out laughing.
Ugh, parenting fail.
