The Sendai 89ers competed in the first round of the playoffs against the Northern Akita Happinets. (Back in May 2012)
I got a chance to go to Akita, Japan for the weekend and stay at a friend's parents house (a real unique experience!) While at their house we were also able to walk through a Japanese street festival. Very cool!
Japanese street festival.
They definitely had different games than at US street festivals, the first game we played was fishing for gold fish!
The next game we tried was trying to cut a shape out of a piece of thin sugar with a push pin.
Third game was fishing for turtles!
Cheers from Japan!
The following day there was a little parade down main street. A group of men carried a golden urn and a little truck followed them carrying rice to bring to the temple. The owners of restaurants and individual homes brought out rice and received a blessing. Everyone was praying for a good rice season.
